If you want to run a simulation and not a "game", nothing beats Grand Prix Legends. Worldwide there a large number of active leagues and pick-up races, over 500 historic and fantasy tracks for FREE, 4 different seasons modded into the game (1965, the original '67, winged '69's and 70's Indy Thunder Cars) with more mods pending. The sim is available for free, without the orginal tracks, many retailers on-line still handle the disc w/ the original tracks for little $. The sim runs on low powered PC's, the netcode is very good and the community is VERY cool. There is a spirit of gentleman racing, not win at any cost.
