Track Mania is pretty cool.. you race on the same track but winners are determined by time trials.. you actually drive through the people you are racing... it doesn't give you the "racing" feel, but it helps a ton with lag.. its a fun game and its a free download.. there are always online servers with 15-20 people in them. you can also play single player and create your own tracks... its worth a look.. a pretty big download though.. i don't remember the web site so just google track mania.
