What's your view of advertising and product placement in online games?

This is the kind of thing where a billboard in an auto racing game will flash a real product advertisement, or a bot will be carrying a can of a particular soft drink. Would your view change if allowing this kind of advertising made prices lower for gamers? What's your view of advertising and product placement in online games?
I do think it's more creative when developers drop in their own satirical ads (like Spunk cola in GTA). But given the massive expensive of developing the truly impressive franchises, it's understandable that game makers will get revenue through any possible avenue. And it's their property, so who's to criticize them?

In truth, it can actually contribute to the realism of a game, if properly done (I'm thinking of stuff like racing games).

It wouldn't change my opinion if it lowered prices, other than perhaps to make the more okay with it. But honestly, I don't see that happening. Developers have already determined that we'll pay $45-$75 per title. Any extra income they can generate from a title isn't going to be altruistically handed back to the consumer in the form of lower prices. It's going to be given to shareholders in the form of higher returns.
