ModNation: Racers! It really is an awesome game, I have trouble putting it down. It's addicting, fun, and the custumization/creating tools are incredible. Online/multiplayer/sharing is the focus of this game, it's a load of fun.
If you're looking for a more realistic racer, I recommend Midnight Club: Los Angeles or Midnight Club: DUB Edition. Each are very good and are free running games. You travel around the city looking for underground drag racers to compete with (which are marked on your GPS). There are a ton of races here, so you'll have plenty of time to play this game. Customizing is the focus in this game, and it works out great. You can own multiple cars, upgrade each, and use them to your advantage in certain races. Some races are motorcycles/choppers only, others are exotic cars only, or muscle cars only, or SUV's and C Class cars, or no restrictions. It all changes the course of the story depending on what type of vehicle you focus on the most. The online is also good. Look up the ign/gamespot reviews on them for more information.
Another good game you may like if you enjoy motorstorm is blur. Blur is a realistic-like racing gmae where you can use powerups to destroy opponents or boost past them. Think of it as a realistic mario cart. The rewards system is fantastic and the online is just as fun as the single player. Look up some reviews on this one too.
Out of the games mentioned above, I prefer Modnation and Midnight Club, but you'll enjoy any of these. PEACE
